Anyone that read this thread: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147513 will know that i was doing alot of soul searching on a new bass.

Eventually I decided to blow the cash on a Pedulla Rapture - This puts me in a rather exclusive club in England, but i like that!

Its a 2001 Rapture, bought for recording and has lived in the case for the past 3 years.

BODY MATERIAL: Soft Eastern flame maple
NECK: Bolt-on, Single flatsawn hard Eastern maple
    SCALE LENGTH: 34 inches
    FINGERBOARD: Birdseye Maple
    NUMBER OF FRETS: 22
INLAY: Mother of Pearl, 5mm dots
    NUT: Bone
TRUSS ROD: Single rod, double-acting adjustable with two stiffening bars
    STRINGS: .045, .065, .080, .100
    WEIGHT: 8 pounds 1 ounce
    HARDWARE: Chrome
    BRIDGE: ABM machined brass
    MACHINE HEADS: M.V. Pedulla/Gotoh
    STRAP PINS: Gotoh
PICKUPS: JJ, Made for M.V. Pedulla by Bartolini
    ELECTRONICS: Bartolini 2 band +-15dB @ 40 Hz; Treble +-15dB @ 40 kHz
CONTROLS: Volume, pickup Blend, bass boost/cut, treble boost/cut
    CONTROL KNOBS: Chrome dome
FINISH: Candy Red (like red/purple sparkle)
NECK & BODY: High gloss polyester body, Satin catalyst polyurethane neck

This bass is simply fantastic, I've played quite alot of J style basses, and without exception, this is better than everything i have played, it beats the 75 jazz hands down in terms of playbility, control and overall sound, the lows are so low (i thought it was tuned BEAD when i first played it!) and the highs are defined and crisp. Oh, - I understand what you all talk about when you meantion GROWL now - haha!

And here are some gratuitous pictures; I think its pornographic, but then - Im biased.

Dang dude. Congratulations. That is an awesome looking bass. It shall go nice with those nice, whiny indie rock songs you play.

IMO you made a good choice. Years ago I owned a Rapture-5 with a single Bartolini soapbar. It was a really nice bass, I never should've sold it. The Rapture is a fantastic bass and for it's price, it's a steal.

    Congrats, Art.

Great looking bass, doesn't the bass player of Muse play something similar (maybe 5 string) ?

  10. You're a good man Toasted.

I was in Guitar Center here recently, and a 70's Fender Jazz tried to flirt with me as if i would ever consider the thought of cheating on my Pedulla Rapture!

I told her that she was way too old for me and assured her that my girl keeps me happy at home.

Besides, my baby gave me permission to go, so long as i look, but not touch. I would'nt want to contract anything and bring it back to my baby.

    :D

Man, for my money, the Rapture J2 is the most stylin' J-bass around. Congrats!

    Great looking bass, but...

Why figured wood body with a solid finish?

A couple years ago I called Pedulla and asked about getting a solid black ThunderBolt. I asked if it was cheaper since it didn't have the figured wood, and she told me they all have AA figured tops, so no, it's not cheaper.

Even though i´m biased towards the 75 RI i just can´t believe you even considered one. This bass is beautyful! You did the right thing!

    Congrats!
