Hey all, I have a bunch of parts lying around and have decided to put together a killer 4 string Jazz specifically for slap playing. Here is what I have so far: Maple neck w/ maple board Fender tuners Pickguard, knobs and pots EMG J set Fender bridge and strap pins The final piece I need is the body. I have an alder 60's body, but it doesn't have quite the sound I want. I want to get one routed 70's style with the bridge pup closer to the bridge. The final decision is wood choice. I want something punchy and bright. Right now I am considering Ash or Maple. It would be a plus if it looked good with a natural finish. Has anyone tried a solid maple Jazz body? Are the ash bodied 70's Jazz basses swamp ash or regular(white) ash? Weight is not a major issue to me, as this will not be a main axe for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
