I've got a '79 B301F. Nice tone out of the mahogany and rosewood. Nice score, Johnny.

Cheers! The seller here didn't do his homework, the serial number he quoted is for 1978! The fretted one I have is a '77

I love the shape too, and now I have it in fretted and fretless!

I have only seen one of these before - it was a band slot on 'The Young Ones', and I can't remember the band!!!

I had a think, and I think it was The Damned!:)

  7. there was a clip of Iggy Pop on The Tube playing "sweet sixteen" , and the bass player (I think it was Tony Sales, later of Tin Machine) was bashing a fretless B301 like yours with a pick (and also at one point with his fist:eek: )

also Michael Dempsey, original bassist with the Cure, and later with The Associates, used a fretted B301.
