    In no particular order

    MTD Kingston or Heir bass
MIA, MIM, or MIJ fender jazz or P-bass
Lakland Skyline- if you can find one used you will get a great bass

Does anyone have sound clips of their Rumblefish, or do you know any recordings with a Rumblefish in it? I'm thinking about getting one of these as an upgrade from my Squier P-bass.

My first guitar was a Squire P-Bass. Then I found a Warwick Corvette Proline on Ebay for $650.. =) , hows that for an upgrade?

If you like fender check out the delux active mexican jazz bass it has a really great feel and a really great sound to it not only that you wouldn't have to spend the whole 600 you could get away with 450-500 if you shop around I would also recomend puting a bad ass bass 2 bridge on it after you get it makes a huge difference. the bass is also good beacause it's already active if down the road you want to throw in some emg's or something you can fit a whole new 3 ban eq right in there without any routing so good luck

Yea I think all the basse smentioned were pretty good. Personally, I think that the Lakland skylines(used) are an AWESOME deal at your price.
