I heard somewhere on TB that fender might reissue the original telecaster bass ;)

I expect that ernie ball will unveil there budget stingrays :0)

bill conklin told me my hollowbody 7 string anniversary bass...

and my 8 string fretted (the one in the back)...

will both be finished and at the show so that i can pick them up. (the 8 string is an exact copy of my fretless 8, except for the woods...)

so there's a couple of new basses that will be there. :D

man... them necks are wide. My little mits could reach about halfway accross them mothers.

And how many frets does that 8 string have? Must be at least a 36" scale.

the 8's have 36 frets, 35" scale length, tuned f#-b-E-A-D-G-b-e, where the capital letters correspond to the tuning of a "regular" 4 string.

as for new basses at the namm show, bill conklin will probably have the newer models of the groove tools basses there too - the marco mendoza sig 6 string fretted and fretlesses, the rocco prestia sig 4 string, and the 5 string conklin-lightwave. there might be a few more.

are you going to namm? if so, come by the conklin booth. i'll be the one with the doubleneck :D.

I'm not going, I am in the UK and isn't NAMM for people involved in the music / instrument making biz. I'm not.

I am just intrested in what is gonna be new, as I am looking to get a new bass, and don't want to get a bass now, and then devolp some serious GAS if I see something cool reported from NAMM.

John you are just out of control!!

I dont know how many times Ive looked at your basses and I still drool, I could handle the weight and necks since Im a bigger guy, but those controls look like something from N.A.S.A.

    Insane!!

  9. There was a link to a magazine article here a while back that mentioned that EB/MM planned on a 2 pickup Sterling. I guess that'd be a possibility for the upcoming NAMM.

but see? that's the beauty - you get your regular 1/2 an eight, and then you get another half free! what a bargain. :D

    oh, and thanks odie [IMG].

  12. I hear Ibanez has got a new ATK bass in the works....but it was only a rumor that I was told....so I dunno.

  13. JT, that 8 string only has one pickup, no? what on EARTH do all those little switches and knobs do?

well, it has a 3 band eq, a single band of fully parametric eq, and a piezo/synth pickup under each bridge saddle. there's volume and magnetic/piezo blend, an on/off switch, a 3 selector switch for series/parallel/single coil for the pickup, and some midi controls for the synth pickup.

oh, and a remote on/off switch for my on-stage capuccino machine :D.

I think Spector will show a NS6 Europe Bass... just a rumor

  17. I think it'd be cool if there was a Spector Europe NS2J.. just an ash body and 2 J pickups.. but then again the standard European Spector might just fit me better..
