new build on the way... maybe

i need some opinions on my *hopefully* next build. the other day, i claimed i nice, 3 foot long log, about 5 inches deep, of northern cherry, and i am considering making it into a tapping type instrument similar to a Chapmans stick, probably with passive pickups with an active E.Q to make them louder. has anyone tried something of this type, or seen something of this type? any suggestions on parts/ schematics, and maybe constructive criticism from the wonderful luthiers we have here? any input greatly appreciated!
