(parahrasing) "I felt a tremor in the Force, the last time I felt it was in the presence of my old master..." I got to visit my mentor two weeks ago while on vacation in New Jersey, and he was of course, still kickin'. He was sending out this volumptuous 4-string for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. I got to snap some impromptu photos of Carl while he snapped his photos, And I just thought I would share them with you. more photos of this bass and the smokin' box Carl made for it are available on Carl's sitewww.ctbasses.com or my site M.E.
I like the ones that have less then a 36" scale . Got to play one of yours today, Mark...Looks like an Eshenbaugh is next on my list.
I want a CT very badly. I've always loved his work. That one is awesome. I wonder, if I sell all my basses......
carl thompson certainly knows his stuff. the kid that received that make-a-wish bass is one happy camper; and it's so great of carl to have done that, too.
Hey just thought I'd mention some new Carl Thompson pics up at my site on the Bio Page Some are old stuff from mid to late 90's I just had lying around that I didn't scan until just recently.
I've never played a Carl Thompson bass... but I have wanted to for a long time.... maybe someday.. I have however played and eschenbaugh bass or three.. and I must say... those are some schweet basses you make ther
My buddy from Murphy's music owns a 29 fret 32'' scale 4 string and a 24 fret 36'' 6 string...not only are they friggin' beautiful, they sound really nice...he let me hold the 4 string, but heh, I felt intimidated, that's how I feel when I hold either a mentor's bass or a really damned fancy bass..this was a mix of the two..hahaha...
