I must emerge from bass Nirvana to share these pics of my new New Standard carved LaScala. I am so pleased with how it looks and sounds! Thank you Arnold and Wil!

It has Sloane tuners, a carbon fiber endpin and is currently strung with Spirocore Weichs. I am 5'3" and with the endpin completely retracted, it is the perfect size for me!

The first day I had it, I had dinner with my aunt. When she saw it she exclaimed, "OMG! That is NOT a very LADYLIKE instrument!"

    You gotta love aunts!

Yup, she's a beauty allright. I'm sure the sound doesn't hurt any, either.

If you don't mind disclosing, how much did it cost??

Congratulations! I am about a month or so into my upcoming, carved La Scala's lead time; your pictures and enthusiasm are heartening.

Looks as if you are primarily a jazz player from your profile. How is the E string response with the Weichs? How is it when played arco?

Yours is a lovely bass, nicely photographed. Thank you very much for sharing it.

I am looking forward to having one, myself, in a couple more months...

Yet another carved La Scala in the Boston area!

I have to disagree with your aunt . . . it is very ladylike. Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for everyone's kind words. I really love the pizz and arco sound from this bass, even though the Spiro Weichs are still new. The growl from the E string is a religious experience!

It's a beaut - congrats! Can't go wrong with Arnold's work. He's got the right formula for making a good bass.
