Hi all just notifying everyone of my new YouTube bass educational channel. It’s early days but I have video lessons up already, some with free PDF’s which are linked in the descriptions. I am making new videos every week and building the channel up with lots of bass related content. Have a look, subscribe, use the videos to learn and have fun! Also let me know if you want me to make a video of a particular topic or bassline and any feedback is much appreciated. See you in Greg’s Bass Shed!!

Nice man, I like your left hand video.

One tip for improvement, I'd like to be able to see your whole head in the intros and when you're talking, at least your eyebrows!

Thanks man! Just for clarification can’t you see all of me(head included) at the beginning of the video? I had a look and apart from the obviously closeups, I’m in shot the rest of the time. Maybe it’s a settings issue?

Thanks for letting me know. It would be good to fix this if it’s a problem for some viewers.

Oh yes that one is pretty bad

I have change my set-up a bit since then so hopefully it’s much better now.

I think it’s sorted on this one?

As Christmas is approaching and all that, I thought I’d best make a Festive bassline lesson so here’s Last Christmas by Wham. There is a PDF that comes with the lesson. Follow the link in the video description. Enjoy!

Video lesson with step by step instructions on how to play this iconic bassline. Herbie Flowers at his best. Also there is something special and unusual about this bassline. Watch and see if you didn’t know already....

Basslines please, there are two (upright and electric fretted, I believe).

I love trying to play both lines at once tappity style. I don't get very far, but it's fun. :) I'd practice it up more, but I could never pull off the vocals. :)

Also the slides go in different directions. While the AB goes down, the EB goes up .

That's what makes them fun to play at the same time - crossing fingers. ;)

Knew a player with a bass/baritone Chapman Stick that could handle both lines simultaneously and absolutely nail it.

Will Lee played that at the Late Night with Letterman if I recall and he explained that in an interview I think.

Cool vid but I like playing the C and F notes down an octave from what he was doing. Sounds fuller and doesn't need the second part when you do that.

Will played it in D with the Letterman band. Never did see exactly how he did it. Always thought he used open D and G strings for the I and IV.
