They'd look great in my black P and black J....

    They are spendy though, $250....

    Hmmmmm……

    Just IMO :

    Pros :
Very nice look and seems very robust
Adjustable screws for each string independently
Offers another option among the gazillions we already have !

    Cons :
Those set screws give me a hard time with my floating thumb technique (but this is me !)
    Price
Might be just a marketing affair as we may have that same tone and benefits from an existing set of pickups
Most of the p bass humbuckers pickups have no 60 Hz hum

But, I 'm in a hurry to read comments from a TB fellow that’s giving a try though ! :D

I like the look. I have a bass that's black with chrome hardware that they would look great on, but....it has soapbars on it. And 5 strings.

Close (well, not really in my case), but a good effort nonetheless.

At $250, I’ll let others try them and tell me how it goes.

I like that the pole pieces are adjustable, though. Now, if only they’d make a scpb version!

  14. I just want to say I thought of this idea almost a year ago and kept it to myself thinking I was being smart and now fender did it

aesthetically they're reminiscent of Lakland's outstanding Chi-Sonics. I am curious

They look very cool! It will be very interesting to find out what they sound like. It's a rather unusual move from Fender, isn't it? I would have expected them to release something like this in an overpriced "special edition" instrument, like the (horribly flawed) Gold Foil Jazz Basses.

I hope they were able to match the pole spacing with the string spacing at the intended mounting location!

Yeah, the V-Mod v1 P-bass pickup he designed was rather poor. It had a nice, sweet tone for playing softly but the tone of E-string just fell apart completely when digging in hard. No punch, it just hit a brick wall and sounded anemic. Let's hope these are better.

Of course, the whole point of these pickups must be that they DON'T sound like a classic P-bass so they're probably not for the vintage purists. And whenever Fender release something that doesn't sound/feel like a Fender it's rarely a success. I'm definitely interested but at those prices they better sound exceptional! You can almost get a Squier Sonic Precision AND a decent aftermarket pickup upgrade for that price!
