    Ibanez 6 string 1306
  6. If the wood has a nice grain, I'd do a "natural" oil finish. If you're going solid, I'd go for a (darker) blue.
  7. Some kind of burst.

If it is a color that I would be after, a sunburst would be my choice. I really like the tobacco sunbursts of yore or the cherry sunbursts.
Given a complete choice I would always choose Natural. Tung Oil finishes really show the beautiful woods basses are being built out of these days. The grain and feel of the wood and not a plastic coated paint room finish.

  11. You mean 1206? Why on earth would you touch the finish on that bass? Definitely do a trans finish though, to let the flame show through. How are you going to do the neck joint?

What's wrong with the finish? I'd leave it as is, or a nice transparent dye.

Have you ever used wood dye? It's hard to get a even look on some woods, and you HAVE to finish over it anyway or it will breed, and , oil finishes react to some dyes, so, you really have to choose carefully.

It really depends on the look of the bass IMO...

I like black and blue, but some basses look better with a blend of the two or maybe another original color altogether

A 1306 has a Padauk top - covering that would be a sin unto basses. :bawl:

  20. edit: nevermind, the person above me got the correct pic
