I once read a thread on TB and someone said they had not heard of anyone being happy with a DP Custom experience.

Well let me fix that right now.

I just recieved my new DP custom bass. Now let me say this.
"THIS IS ONE HAPPY DAVE PUSHIC CUSTOMER :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: "

This is my custom bass from DP Custom and It kicks A@#$.(Excuse my french)

I know the quality from my digital camera suck right now. But I sorry I'm in the proccess of moving and alot of my good gear is already packed up. So there will be better pics to come.

    The brake down:
    5 string visible neck thru
    Maple body
    Spalted maple top w/matching headstock
    neck: padauk/maple/padauk
    macassar ebony fretboard
    35 inch scale
    all gold hardware (for now)
Mighty might pups w/Bartolini 3 band EQ
    and schaller straplocks

Yes the neck is straight and the frets are done as good as my schector stiletto studio 6. It sounds "OFF THE CHAIN"

More to come including a full review.

    Congrats!!!!!

    Hows about a full review?

I was going to order a DP myself, but after several months of planning and even after I paid for it, I chickened out. I MIGHT go back again in a few years, but I dont really know if it would be right of me to do so. How long did you wait for it?

    Have fun with it!

  3. that looks pretty cool!
its cool to see someone happy with a DP, as i haven't seen anyone else like them!

Were are all the TBer's that was slamming Dave??? :eyebrow:

You dont have a good comment for Dave now?

Oh I know what it is... You don't want to admit that you were wrong.. :scowl: :scowl:

Thats OK. You have to work that out with the Lord. You need to ask him to humble your heart and open your eyes. :p :p

Wow, one out of how many? He's really on a roll. He had a chance to make a good impression on me, and blew it. First impression is EVERYTHING.

  6. Dude, calm down. A lot of people probably didn't know it was a DP thread, since the title makes no reference to it.

Not about the bass, just about the attitude. You seem to think everyone's views should immediately change, and they should repent their former wrongful ways. Sorry, it ain't gonna happen. By way of a very exaggerated comparison (and hoping you can understand metaphors and not take this literally), if Saddam Hussein bought me an ice cream cone today, I wouldn't suddenly decide he had been a great guy all along.

As far as the bass, I'm glad you like it. Enjoy it in health. It looks nice. I hope it's fantastic, and the every one Dave makes from now on is likewise.

As far as your other supposition, it's only nearly true. There has/have been one or two others who have been happy with their DPs. And there have been many who weren't. Owners, not just internet speculators. Similar in many ways to the Wishnevsky situtation.

It looks good. I've never had a problem with how they looked though.

No one was wrong that many of the basses he's sold to customers have had severe structural/playability problems.

The first analogy I thought of involved chimps and typewriters. ;) :D

So, you post a thread at 10pm EST, and no one has responded to your thread by 8 am EST and that means everyone doesn't want to admit they were wrong? Nice logic.

I'm extremely glad that you are happy with your bass. Use it in good health for years to come.

As for being wrong, you being happy with your bass doesn't change the fact that the other DPs I've seen in person would be better off serving as firewood instead of tools for musical endeavors.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. :)

  15. i still wouldn't buy one. too much risk. with so many great luthiers out there constantly putting out a quality product i'd rather save up and buy one from them (actually, i already did). i may have spent three times more than the average pushic customer, but i'd be willing to bet that the craftsmanship, playability, materials and tone are three times better than the average pushic (not necessarily yours).

I'm going to put mine up on the auction block here shortly. I have a SWEET '73 Jazz I recently aquired from a friend so I just don't have a need for my DP anymore.
I'm going to use the money to upgrade my road bike. :hyper:

Nice looking bass. How's it sound, dont like Mighty Mites too much but the Bart pre should remedy that. Congrats.

It looks pretty good at first glance, and looks rather comfortable to play. However, I'd personally prefer something a bit different, but thats the beauty of customs. Did you get what you want? If you did, be happy! Is that my kind of bass by any means? Nope, but I'm happy that you're happy.
