for you prog rock lovers, the new flower kings album "unfold the future" is a must. i have enjoyed most of this swedish band's output but this one takes their game to a higher level...definitely their best so far! imagine tales from topographic oceans with john wetton on vocals and jaco on bass, for starters. if you're unfamiliar with them, these guys aren't going to win any awards for originality, but they are the best at what they do right now. like all serious prog this one takes quite a few listens, but it has the depth, complexity, wonder and beauty of classic yes. this material puts the latest spock's beard album to shame (i do not like "snow", i think it is very cheesy and contrived!). jonas reingold is a monster on the bass and they really let him do his thing on this release. he is a huge jaco fan and although nobody can touch the master he does capture something...also does a great chris squire knock-off when he wants to.
