I mentioned I was going to pull the trigger on this last week. I pulled it.

    My new G & L 1992.

Came with molded hard shell case, mint not 1 scratch or nick, original documentation signed by Leo. $600.00

I love the color , the feel of the neck and most of all the tone.

Schematic indicates one of the switches is for an internal pre-amp. Is there a battery in this bass?

Yup, 9 volt. There's a cavity for it inside the control cavity. As far as the treble/bass cut controls - you might start with them at 0 and turn them up to get the sound you need. With both full up the sound can be pretty powerful. Join the G&L Club to get all of your questions answered, and welcome to the joy of owning a G&L!

Thanks, yeah, I was actually at Cream City to purchase the new oversized Gibson Les Paul Gold Top bass (strictly for stage presence) but I just happened to see the G & L on the wall, played it and decided the ROI with the G & L was much higher.

Now I really have no use for my MIM Reverse Jaguar ( 2 weeks old).

Holy crap that's f**ckin' nice!! And it's in BLUE! Damn... for $600, mint, case, maple 'board neck and Leo's signature as icing on the cake. Seriously, a new Tribute model goes for more - and some don't even offer a gig bag let alone a hard case... Did I mention that the deal was f**ckin' nice? I don't even care if I already did or not - the bass is so nice I had to say it twice! Nothing but congrats and envy you lucky, lovely bass playing b*stard.

If you ever want to make any changes to the electronics (switching options, etc), don't hesitate to PM me. I've done a lot of electronics mods to my L2000 basses (essentially the same as your ASAT). Here's my current L2000 Tribute:

I owned an exact duplicate of that bass for many years and loved it. You're lucky, and you're gonna feel even luckier when you start playing out with it--it's a monstrous bass for live shows.

By the way - the preamp is just a boost circuit. The treble and bass controls are passive only and work whether the preamp is activated or not. I removed my preamp and installed separate parallel/single coil/series switches for each pickup.

Yup. A great deal on a great bass!

Another mod that is worthwhile is the single col switch mod. (Sometimes called a K-mod, though I don't know why)

I had a 90's L2500, that thing sounded incredible and played like an old Fender without the issues, i really do miss that Bass, the weight was what made me sell it in the end... You wont find a better Bass for the money.

Congrats. It would be worth it to work with a tech because with those PUPs you have many coil spitting options that would turn that bass into quite the chameloen. There are some awesome sounds lurking in that bass.
