Hi! I really love Gallien-Krueger amps, so I was pleased to hear that they are releasing a whole new line of products for the beginning or budget-oriented bass player. If these products are as good as GKs other products, I would highly recommend you check them out. I may have to get one of them Backline 40/110 40W 1x10 Bass Amps. That make a cool practice amp! I love how all the amps have built in distortion! I am a big Gallen fan too. Looks like the new cabs are the old RB's with new paint and shinny speakers. If you get ahold of any or hear any reviews let everyone know. I havent found a lot of Gallien fans on this site but I am new and many not have read the right threads yet. That stuff must be really new, its not even on GK's web site yet
The new Backline stuff is very new. Just started shipping a few days ago. The reason that the amps and cabs aren't on the GK website is that GK hasn't updated their site since early 2000.
so has anyone tried the backline cabs yet? what did you think? i'm thinking of trying one if i can find it.
Hello all. This is Trip from GK. The Backline cabs should be in GC sometime this year. In the combo series, I think that the 110 and 112 are the best. The 410 cab is a decent little rocker and we are thinking of doing an 810. What do you think?
how does the backline 4x10 compare to the 4x10rbs? local stores don't stock gk gear and i have to make a bit of a drive to try anything new. my trip to try the 700rb was worth it, but i want to know what to expect from the backline gear. also, you asked what we'd like to see. i'd like to see an amp like my 700rb, only with an insanely powerful boost circuit. i'm not talking distortion like on the 2001rb, but the same function it serves on the 700rb, only much, much more powerful. powerful to the extent that when i go to fiddle my boost knob, i hear the crowd shout in unison "NOOOOOOO!!!" as if to say, "please god, don't let him touch the boost knob. there are women and children in the crowd..." that might be a tad bit exaggerated, and a bit unclear, but it sure makes sense to me. that's one for my wishlist ::sighs::
The backline series is not as clear as the RBS series. The RBS is geared toward the semi/pro to pro guys who don't like tweeter cabs. As for the insane boost. I think I know what you mean. Turn that sucker up and you would get some really reaming sustain and bit of breakup. I would like that as well. Keep things coming folks!
How would those Backline cabs do in a rock setting? Is that who they're geared toward (rockers)? Would the 700RB with 210BXL and 115BXL be a good combo?
8x10! *drooooooollll, plop!* A cab with multiple 12s would be kickin', too! Any idea for that 8x10 being RBH, RBS, or just Backline? Aside from the tweeter, aren't the RBH and RBS cabs ported differently? I would have liked to have tried the RBS cabs, but I just couldn't find them anywheres. What does "GC" stand for? Until Trip's reply, I thought it was a slam by a GK critic for "Garbage Can"
The Backline cabs will do well. They are made to for rockers. Especially the young ones. Thanks for the replies. Keep them coming. I'm gonna go play Soldier of Fortune II for a little while.
The 700rb would work well with them. If you don't like tweeter cabs. I would go with our rbs series. The 700's punch will translate well in those. The backlines are more edgy sounding. They do look cooler than the RBS. But of our gear is getting facelift.
Well, I think you guys should make a 4x8, 8x8 and 6x10 cabinet(s). As for face lift... well I despise the way the RBH enclosures look and the way they stack and so on. Other than that make them have more character they just look dull and grey... hard to explain.
How about making it look like a big, soft la-z-boy so you can relax in comfort while you kick out the jams. A cappucino machine add-on would be cool too. Maybe you could even get Mattress Mac to sell 'em. brad cook
