    Yep,

Just checked it out and it looks pretty cool!
At first I thought it was a picture of Scotts new 7 string, but then realized it was a new design.

OH...by the way it's Carey. (just a heads up)

I've always liked Carey's work, but I never realized his prices were SO FREAKIN' GOOD! I'm seriously gassing hardcore for an NJ4 lined fretless with ebony top, headstock cap, and bound ebony fretboard.

I have GAS for that 7-string (with 29 frets!), even though I'm not an extended range player. Well, I guess that's the way it goes with GAS.

Ebony top and ebony fingerboard! That should be interesting, I don't think I've ever seen that combination before. He built an SC5 with ebony/maple, though: http://www.nordstrandguitars.com/assets/images/gallery/accessbass/normanC.jpg

Carey will be building me a fretless bass soon - an NJ5 with a zebrawood top (though that may still change) and an unlined ebony fingerboard (not "fretboard" ;) ). I'm very excited about it! (Oh, the agony of looking at his progress pictures of basses that aren't mine!)

Some seriously sexy bass porn. Mmm hmm.

Now, I'm off to go sell my plasma for the next 5 years.

Yeah, that SC5 was what made me gas for an ebony top. I've NEVER seen another bass with an ebony top -- Macc. ebony, yeah, but not regular ebony. It looks gorgeous.

Howver, I think I'll change my order to an NX. However, instead of having the ebony veneer and the figured top, I'd want a figured veneer and an ebony top (carved so that you see a but more of the veneer) over an ash body. Still ebony headstock and lined bound FINGERBOARD :).

That redwood burl top reminds me of a Van Gogh painting except it is the antithesis to Starry Night. Very cool (or hot, if you will). Aren't Carey's finishes to die for? His work is superb! Very sweet. :D

  15. Oh yeah! Carey's high gloss finish is among *the* best I've seen. :hyper:

Hey thanks for all the nice comments guys!
I've wanted to do this design for quite a while and Scott finally said he'd take this instead of an SC. I'm really glad he did, because it's turning out better than I had expected. It's weird building a seven, and it makes the design a bit odd compared to a 5, but I'm still really enjoying it.
Thanks again for all the encouragement! :hyper:

And Peter, Mike was such a huge influence on me it's hard for me to get away from his designs. Hopefully it's different enough to be unique and yet still pay homage to his design genius.
