i figure guitars aren't that evil, so i went ahead and bought one.

a used Gibson Faded SG. got a great deal on it too.

should be here in a few days.

anyone have any experience with this model of SG?

    You mean like this?

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. (Big honkin' picture there, Bud.)

    :D

Nice score! I have an SG-I, and would have been very happy with one of the faded ones. My uncle loves his, at least until his wife finds it.

    So he's married to a bassist? ;)

You'd be stoned, but I think just this time we can make an exception as you have chosen wisely. SG in worn brown is, IMO, one of the cooler guitars around.. of course it not having tremolo helps.

it's a great looking and sounding g***** but the one i played i cut my hand on the sharp fret edges. but i blame that on shipping conditions more than anything.

  8. Ah yes, the high spirited brother of the Les Paul.
    I like SGs. Nice score.

    Good luck with it.

Have any of you seen one of the korina SG's? Same guitar, but made out of korina in stead of mahogany. Apparently korina is just a fancy name for limba. Man did that thing sound good. Even when the guy playing it was a full time g****r player.

  10. Nice score dude!

SGs are my favourite looking guitars, never played one though. Hows it sound?

If it's anything like my uncle's, it'll be killer.

I love SGs. I would like to trade my mid-80s Kramer Barretta for an SG.

The first time I picked up my SG-I, I sighed. It felt that good and right! Too bad I can't play it worth a turd.

Mando, wait until you try a SG neck bend! It's kinda scary at first, but it's fun and the headstock doesn't snap off... usually. ;)

  15. You and me both, Heavy. I just can't change chords fast enough! :bawl:

But, I will never give up! :)

Now, an SG finish to die for: http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/sg/images/sgsupremeNUburst.jpg

But, at an almost $2,000 street price, I will leave it in the store. :D

Thats a really cool finish but even better would be the 're-issue'? 'tribute'? finished SG's I've seen that copy Clapton's Cream-era SG Les Paul. It's the one withthe psychedelic-trippy rainbow-hippy graphics. I saw Jimmy Vivino playing one on Conan. ED Roman sells them, but I don't know where the paint jobs are done.

I've heard pretty good things about those Faded Series Gibsons. What pickups are in it, though? If it's the Gibson 490 and 496, I'd change those before I even plugged in the guitar. Pure crap.

  18. my dad has a pristine, transparent-cherry-red 1973 Gibson SG standard. SGs are sweeeet(well... for guitars)

SG's are hot. If I could afford a nicer GUITAR, I would definitely buy an SG. My current GUITAR, however, is working out so I can justify buying a new one.
