Anyone heard the new single "Wish you were here" by Incubus? I've been a fan for a while, and I have to say I'm kinda disappointed with the song. They're usually pretty creative and whatnot, but the new song is just boring and repetitive to me, and not like the Incubus I'm used to. I figure maybe they got a new producer for this album, kinda like what happpend to Dave Matthews Band. Hopefully, the next single will be better. (is there a next single?) Ah well, new album, Oct. 23rd. We'll see what happens.
Well, I listened to that song several times now, since I saved the stream to my HD, and I think it's ok, not much better or worse than the last record. I doubt you can judge the whole record just on that song, we'll see. I'm too busy listening to Devin Townsend right now anyway - Tierra is a killer album! If you want creative, check him out. www.hevydevy.com
I've heard most of the album from mp3s and it's not as good as their past efforts, in my opinion, but it's still good. There's this one song called "Are You In" that I love, it's so catchy.
The new single has the same effect on me as "Pardon Me" did, I hated it the first 10 times I heard it, then I loved it. I hope the rest of the cd is good...
Personally I think their earlier stuff is best (Fungus, and Enjoy....) whan their funk/jazzy edge was more prominent. The last two were more main-stream and lacked the drive (pun intended) of the more experimental music. But they still kill. Matt
they peaked at fungus amongus and only dropped one or two points with science (which is still awesome). Then came Make Yourself. What garbage. I was extremely dissapointed with their new pop style and abandonment of their funky roots. Oh well, it happens to most bands... i dont think they'll ever be as good as they once were.
I was also pretty disapointed, but I cant say that Make yourself was crap. Most of the songs on there are pretty bad ass. Battlestar, Nowhere fast, the warmth, ect. There earlier stuff was different but not that much better IMO.
the same crap happened with STP...their early stuff was great, but then they "went pop". such a shame.
Yeah, Make Yourself isn't bad, but it just lacks the edge and originality of fungus. -Battlestar is the best track- Matt
