Well, temperature here in paris (+40°C today) brought a little inspiration and after working on the bolt-on necks I though trying to design a body for a bolt-on singlecut bass could be cool ;)

The shape is shown with a 6 strings width neck. It is a little shorter than the Plume or Plume singlecut body shapes (upper horn ends 5mm before the 13th fret) and the lower cutaway is deeper.

So what do you Tbers think of it? I haven't came up with any names for it yet so feel free to share your ideas if you have some.

    Peace, JP

I actually like it. It looks like it would have nice balance. For a name.. idk maybe...... "stubby" or something resembling something kinda,, well, stubby.

  3. i was going to ask u if ull make a bolt on single cut, thats a sic shape. iam getting the worst gas for a fretless 6(fretted 7)singlecut purple heart top blood wood back, purple heart finger board with a purple heart, weng neck.

Looks good - how are you planning on shaping the heel where the neck meets (and runs along) the body?

Quasimodo? Too many ugly connotations for such a pretty bass...
Baleen? Cetacean? I've always thought singlecuts imply a 'whale' image.
    the JP 'pygmy?'

or cash in on the Lord of the Rings hype & call it the 'elf.'

uh, I don't think I'm helping any here...
I do like the shape though! Very nice.

Personally, I have never liked the looks of single cut basses, but that's just me.

  17. I think it looks nice, might look nicer if you let the upper horn continue, so its more of a hump as opposed to what you have now. It will appear more similar to your other single cut, but I think that one is beautiful, so Im a little partial.

I think it looks too much like the M bass as mentioned before and also some of Chris Stambaugh's work. In fact I think they look practically identical...it's a cool design and all but I think the plume singlecut is better myself. Just one man's opinion. :)

As I see it, JP's new design has enough difference that it wouldn't be mistaken for an M Bass. The body below the waist comes out to more of a point, and is wider, and the upper horn meets the neck at a very different angle.

JMO, I think it's different enough to safely market, no problem.

I like it, but I don't know what you should call it.
