That will be mine first day it's out.

I just scored my tickets for their show at the Warfield. Row G. I hope those are good seats.

And I am taking a woman!! Not many women are into KC, so I consider myself blessed.

I got it. Seen the first disk so far; typical Crimson visuals (ie, nothing flashy), SCARY muscianship. Trey plays the half fretless Warr alot, and even plays one set horizontally on a keyboard stand. Weird.

Adrian is beginning to look like the crypt keeper.

Good stuff so far if you are Crim head.

I talked to an older dude at my store today about King Crimson. I'm always amazed by guys who say to me "You mean Crimson is still around?! I sho' liked that In The Court of the Crimson King album." For many of the children of the '60's, KC just fell off the map after ITCOTKC. Sad sad. I think I may have convinced him to go check out the show on Nov 2. Boy is he in for a surprise!

watched the first disc today, liked it! I think I'm going to suggest we work up a few KC covers...

Is Fripp the consummate non-performer or what?! Wish I could get away with demanding no flashes or smoking at a show.

I think I liked Deja-Vroom a little better, lots more to look at, but Eyes Wide Open is really good. Trey is a force to reckon with. Doesn't it look like Adam Sandler playing the Warr when he has it lying flat though?

    LOLOLOL!!

    I thought the same thing!!
    I love that 1/2 fretted/fretless Warr he's using!!

You know, if I were Adrian I'd just go ahead and either get a buzz cut or peel it..

when he's back-lit, it's creepy. He's got hair, but you can see right thru it. And that shirt!
Come on dude, it's on DVD! Hanes was the best you could do?!!

they look like blue man group in the second disc...

I'm kinda mortified- Pat's all V-drum kit sounds awful on the 2nd disc. I'm using V's- now I'm horrified that that's what they sound like to the audience. I don't think they do, and we've recorded them, and I heard my predecessor play his V kit with the band, and it sounded fine.

Maybe Pat's going for that kind of sound, I don't know. Didn't like it though.

Yeah, I haven't seen the DVD yet but I know some of Pat's sounds are just 'out there.'

I always liked the idea of a guy playing a kit with everything but the bass and snare electric. There is some stuff you can do on an acoustic snare that can't be done (I don't think) on an electric, and I think some of the bass drum sounds are bad on electric kits. Plus, I think it would look cool

Yes, an acoustic snare is high on my priorities to work into my kit. I really miss it. The Hart Pro Snare is nice, but I miss the dynamics of an acoustic. I'll probably get an acoustic HighHat in there too.

I think there's some really good bass sounds though, and you can get a really good punch-whereas acoustic bass drums make you work harder and you can't always get it all thru the mike.

We recorded this weekend with pretty much the setup you describe, except w/ acoustic cymbals and electric bass drum. Fast, sounded good, and very tweakable on the fly.

Yeah, acoustic cymbals tend to have better sound from my experience. That set up you used for recording would work well, I'd think.

Adrian is starting to look like Devin Townshend (on his medication that is).
