New Kustom/Tech21 Rig - review and pics

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by bassman1185, Mar 8, 2006.

  1. Today I got to pick up my Kustom Groove 1200 head and two Tech21 B410 cabinets, and after playing around with them for about an hour, I can say with some level of certainty that my new rig is

    FREAKING AMAZING.

It seriously sounds great. My P-bass sounds more like a P-bass than it ever did with my ampeg. The cabs are excellent. They handle the lows really well (my band tunes to C, so this is a big deal) and they're very punchy. The Groove 1200 sounds killer as well. I can get some very nice tube-ish grit out of it without even kicking in my BOSS ME-50B. I'll be sure to post more later, but for now, here are a couple of pics of the new family.

    The full rig:

The Groove 1200 is so SHIIIIIIIINNNNEEEEEYYYY...

Congrats, and welcome to the "klub". I've been using a GrooveBass 1200 for 9 months now and still get that goofy smile on my face whenever I turn the master past 12:00

Hey, I just noticed...you're in NORWALK!!!! I'm in Urbandale.....small world

  4. Yeah, the thing is a beast. I was playing around with it last night, and I knocked a big maglight flashlight off my dresser with the thing on about 3.

Ok, this might be a little weird, but did you buy your groove 1200 from Keeper's Music?

If you did, I think I sold it to you. :D

Is that tolex, spatter paint, or a urethane coat exterior? Or is it carpet and my eyes are fooling me?

Just for kicks, I've had the preamp gain at 3:00 and the master volume at 3:00 and I haven't heard any hiss...pretty quiet

  12. The cabs have a spatter paint finish. I guess they just recently started doing that. I was hoping that it would be carpet, but the paint looks nice. I'm just a bit worried about how durable it will be.

As for the hiss, I haven't heard anything noticeable, even with the gain cranked, the solo boost (+6db) on and the master on about 2:00. Granted, the B410s don't have tweeters, so that helps, but it does seem like a pretty quiet amp.

    nice rig!

i also have the same 410 tech21 cabinet (I only have one) and I use it with a landmark600 head. Great!

  14. OK, update:

I got to take it out and practice with it this afternoon. Gahh, I love this thing. It worked great in my band setting, and the thing is freaking LOUD. I had both cabs hooked up, and I was drowning out my extremly loud guitarists with my volume on about 3 1/2. I can't wait to actually gig with the thing. The B410s handle the low end very well. They're deep enough that I barely have to boost the bass to get a great punch-you-in-the-gut sound, but they're still nice and focused.

Are the cabs sealed or ported?
