More interesting than the basses, to me, is that they list "US Sell Price" rather than "List" price. Are they following Fender's lead here?

Oh boy. Just what I need. More GAS for a 44-14.

Maybe in '15 I can swing one. Depends on the gig situation!

I like the 55-02 honey burst. Much better look than the cherry burst IMHO.

There is $1,000 difference between the 44-60 classic and the normal 44-60, both are USA made, I wonder why the difference in price.

The new black Custom PJ looks pretty nice. I wonder if there will be more colors?

  9. There will be very limited custom options. Three color choices only. No birdseye maple fretboards. I have heard (but it's unconfirmed) that the tuners will be hipshot ultralight vs the long stem reverse wound Hipshot HB1's that they normally use. Beyond that it's pretty much the same thing. They can save money by having stock on hand with the limited options. It sure seems like the used value of any Lakland in those three colors is going to plummet. Hard to get close to $2k on the used market when you can get a new one for just a tiny bit more. (I was actually quoted $2k for a new classic 44-64). Anyone with a LPB, burst or black Lakland that they want to sell better do it quickly.

Those 55-14s are interesting. They cost more than I want to spend, but they are nice.

prob a price break from their neck/body supplier for a mass bulk production order/commitment (and break from pat wilkins for limited finish colors in a mass run). kudos to lakland for keeping it real, passing down the savings, and keeping costs inside the earth's atmosphere. I would like to see the PJ option on the 44 series (want a PJ on a 494 body real bad). Would be cool to see a cream/vintage oly white as a finish option too.

Yeah...and Ford F150s look like Dodge Rams!!!!

  14. I am not sure at what point this started but Lakland does all of the CNC work in house now and the finish work as well. No more outsourcing for those things anymore. With the pickups made in house as well the hardware and electronics are the only parts they don't produce themselves.

Maybe they have finally recouped enough from their investment to offer basses at lower prices?

  18. The lower prices are only for the classic series. It's pretty much entirely from the lack of custom options. It allows them to create a stock of general parts and also allows dealers to order more standard stock.
