I was just browsing Sweetwater and saw this bad boy. Lakland Skyline 44-64 GZ - Black I did a search and couldn't find any other thread on this, so I figured I'd bring it to TB's collective attention. It kind of reminds me of the Duff Mckagan sig Fender offers these days. Fender Duff McKagan Deluxe Precision Bass - Black I'm all about black basses, but this one is maybe a bit too black...even just a bit of white on the edge of the pickguard like the Duff would do this bass wonders IMO. Otherwise it seems like a great option to get more vintage pickups for those who don't like the Neopunch pickups on the other skylines.
I saw this bass a couple weeks ago and it looks cool. I personally would prefer chrome hardware, but as a metal fan I certainly dont object to the blacked out look..
I just called Sweetwater to order one. They said expect delivery in December . But it is almost exactly what I want. If only the back of the neck was black, too, it would look like my Jazz Bass Special.
I've got one. I like it - BLACK and old school PBass sound with J pup to give the edge and it's light too (8.9 lbs). Always wanted an ebony fingerboard.
Skylines - in the ad there - are 'crafted in Indonesia' and 'designed and completed in Chicago'. MADE IN INDONESIA.
Somehow didn't know these were a thing Been lusting after an all-black mckagan signature PJ but I don't like painted necks, this would suit me much better!
Where was it? Overseas? They do that a lot - low price and high shipping to lure you in... After some haggling, I got mine for $1050, including tax and shipping. Very pleased with it - becoming my #1 @9 lbs - compared to 10.7 lb Ray - that and passive with the EMGs, anodized aluminum black pick-guard and all black with Ebony and strings thru body!
