After a few years of seriously looking to add a P-Bass to the family, I found one at a garage sale about a week ago. My first bass, after only playing guitar for many years. It’s a 1974 P-Bass, with a refin that was not done professionally. The neck was not modified, although there are several chips in the thick, gloss finish. I haven’t taken a screw out yet, so I don’t know what it looks like under the paint. At this point, I plan on replacing everything under the pick guard, pro paint on the body and possibly stripping and refinishing the neck and headstock. I’ll be tapping this knowledge base through the restoration process. Glad to be here and looking forward to learning all things P-Bass!
Have fun fixing her up. With the playing, time spent here would be time well spent. How to get started? Then if you like to read why certain things work and others do not I recommend the following book. https://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Dummies-Online-Video-Instruction/dp/1118748808/ref=sr_1_3?crid=36TZVQ3ZD4RFH&dchild=1&keywords=bass+guitar+for+dummies+with+dvd&qid=1593173363&sprefix=bassguitar+for+dummies,aps,185&sr=8-3 Welcome to TB and THE bottom end.
