I was hopping to find out if Mesa released any new products on their M-Pulse line, specifically if they released an M-Pulse bass pre amp.

Ive been around their M-Pulse amps a lot lately since they have one at the GC I work at and just love the tone. What I dont love is that Im stuck with a 600 watt max version.

So.... Did any one see such a thing at NAMM?

    Peace

Can't say I did, They are reissuing the Bass 400+ though.

Why couldn't you order the MPulse 360? Or use the 600 watt version on a lower volume level? It's a solid state amp, so you wouldn't be losing anything by keeping the volume low.

Uh... I know a few things about a new, even bigger M-Pulse, but I am not at liberty to say anything about it yet. They do have a new Walkabout combo which is supa cool.

Oh, and how is it that they are reissuing the Bass 400+ when they have never discontinued it?

The Boys at Mesa told me of a new Amp coming out. Its showing at the trade show this month, but as for when its released...they said it will be in October or November of this year.
    Its called the

2-ohm Stable and bigger and badder than ever.

I'm still going to venture to say that my setup will kick this things ass, MPULSE600+QSCPLX1602
but it probably cost a hell of a lot more too. We'll see.

Hehe, my problem is that its only 600 watts.

I want something that I can hook up to a QSC power amp in the 1600 Watt range for serious headroom.

    Nick:

Just do what I'm doing. If you like the tone, just buy a 600 for smaller gigs and bring along a QSC for the larger outdoor gigs. That's what I'm doing. 2 12's and a 4x10. God it sounds so sweet and there is so much clarity. I love it.
I'll show you guys a picture of my moster rig later.

Thats something Ive been looking into for a while, but theres one thing..... too much unnescesary weight!

I know it might not be a big deal for most people but Id just rather hope for a pre amp only version of these killer machines.

That's very true Nick. I've was looking for the same thing for a long time, but I justified my purchase this way.

The Mpulse 600 weighs roughly 27lbs. That's about the size of a small pre-amp and a light power amp. So I figured for smaller-Medium and even large gigs, this will do fine. I just bought the QSC for when I want to play outdoor gigs. That's not very often, and if that happens, I will often times have help. If I'm carrying 3 cabinets to the gig, what's another 21 lbs on top of the 27. I put them in different rack bags, so its more versatile. Its expensive And admittingly so, my setup is a bit of overkill for what I use on an everyday basis, but I think its really a dream come true. So I have versatility. Perhaps not as versatile as a Walkabout and a poweramp, but then again, I get more standalone wattage and headroom as well as I get more features. But you are correct in asking mesa boogie to make just a pre-amp version. It would help out all the rig junkies a lot.

One thing Ive been trying to tell myself would justify the extra weight and cost is that I could use the 600 watt amp thats built in to power a 12 to use as a monitor..... it still doesnt seem to work out to me, but Im gonna keep waiting. Maybe Ill pick up a used one.

    Peace

I know a guy selling a used one. I just talked to him the other day, but I managed to have bought my own 600 just the day after I talked to him. So if you want his info, PM me.

  17. I had an M-pulse 600 that Guitar Center lent me, while I was waiting for my 400+ to arrive. That was a pretty good amp, way louder than the 600 watts. The only thing is that if u want a real clean sound this is not the amp to get. But then again I like my sound to have a little bit of grit in there. And by the way the 400+ blows it out of the water

Often the case when you consider
Hybrid Vs All Tube and the Price Difference

I liked the 600 better for all around purposes though and now my GAS has been slightly cured, but not nearly enough.

I loved the all-tube sound of my Mesa 400+ when practicing alone, but with my band ,on stage, I prefer the sound of my M-Pulse 600 through my Mesa 4x10 and 1x15 cabs. The volume of the rig is substantial with a 4 ohm load. Turned up to 3...the sound man doesn't have to mic me....at 4 or above, I get dirty looks from the guitarists!

    All in all......MESA ROCKS!!!
