I have actually had it 2 and a 1/2 days now and I just haven't been able to put it down long enough to take any pics until now. I really think this bass is worth mentioning. My 5 string MM Sub has been my main 5 string for a long time. I wanted something a little different and more versatile. After reading a few reviews on the Fender Jazz Deluxe 5-String I pulled the trigger. Right out of the box I put it under the microscope. Body finish is great. Fret work is AWESOME. Nice and tight neck joint. The set up was almost right where I like it. All I had to do was tweak a couple bridge saddles and I am in there. It plays AWESOME now! I can get all kinds of tones out of this thing. Trad Jazz tone, Geddy-ish, I can roll on the bass and off of the mids, solo the neck pu, and get really close to a P-bass sound. I can get a real nice Marcus Miller kind of sound. I even found a clean Tim Commerford kind of sound. The noiseless pu's are just that also, no hum or buzz what-so-ever! So far, my favorite tone is just thick, deep, and with just right amount of high end sizzle. I have a gig tonight and I am pretty excited about it. Just thought it was worth mentioning for the people that don't have all of the money for an MIA version, IME, you have to look and listen real hard to tell the difference!!BTW, it's the one all of the way on the right. I have my J-24 named Mustang Sally, my MM SUB named Black Betty, any ideas on names for the new one?
Would it be possible to get a larger shot? I tried clicking on the photo to see if it would enlarge, but alas nothing happened. BTW, from what I've been reading and my own experience. The newer Mexican models are showing great promise. Even though my 08 Fender Jazz is a much better bass, I find myself reaching for my MIM classic 60's jazz most of the time (maybe it's because I speak spanish ).
That J-24 is a great bass, isn't it? I love mine...thanks for the review on the MIM Deluxe...I've been considering getting the 4-string version...
