I've only run across one person who has one of these. Anyone else out there try or buy one?
If so what do you think & how does it compare to other preamps?

boy...where was i when this thread started?!?

pricing is 999.99 retail for the BMAX-T (tube version), i figure the street will be in the 700.00 range. the front-end is very similar to the Alembic F-1X.

The BMAX (solid state) has a 499.99 retail and will street probably around 350.00ish. It is very similar to the "T" but it's response to transients is so friggin fast.

the general comment for both is "geez, i've never heard anything with so much bottom".

the two benchmarks for us while designing them were the preamp in the Glockenklang Soul and the Alembic preamps. our head designer here is a tube-fetish guy, one of the last "old school" tube engineers from fender in the late 70's. he nailed that bassman/alembic thing.

our marketing guys are working with TB to arrange a demo/review.

finally, check out this link for an explanation of the Sonic Maximizer process:

    thanks for the support guys!

Try Bass Central Or Bass Northwest I know one of them have them but don't remember which one? I got one at a local shop in Minnesota, The shop had to order it but got it in less than a week. That was 4 weeks or so ago.

    david,

they've been shipping for about a month!

please ask your favorite BBE or G&L dealer about them.

try Bass Northwest...they should have them in-stock...ask for Evan or Chad. 206 622 2277

    thanks!

Thanks for the replies. I think I may wait until Musicians Fiend get them, because they have such a good return period.

Things I can try in person first I prefer to buy from a local dealer. Things I can't try first I prefer to get from somewhere with the best return period.
