I love that part where she's emulating a tabla (or some sort of "talking drum") with her bass - no clue how she's doing it!

She spent some serious time studying tabla. Check out some of her videos for that.

Jaco used to do "conga-slides' the same way.
    She's awesome!

Thank you; between that and the new Khruangbin, my head is in a slightly better place.

I just discovered it myself, and am glad to have learned the word ‘melophile’.

I am halfway through the Nathan East interview. Mohini Dey has a personality I really enjoy because she is part giggly girl and part otherworldly virtusoso. I love her energy.

I'm sorry I got to say it, besides her huge musical talent, like Esperanza she is also gifted in natural beauty.

I do not think you will get many arguments about Mohini Dey being nice looking, but pretty 24 year old women are a dime a dozen. Bassist’s with Mohini Dey’s skill are rare, whether straight men like looking at them or not. As Ms. Dey said, the worst compliment she ever got was a fan telling her how pretty her dress was after she had played her @$$ off for a couple of hours.
