Well want to give a shout out to Bill Nash of Nash guitars for helping me make this the bass I knew it could be. I own a Nash PB57 and the neck looked great, felt incredible like a worm in baseball glove, and the bass sounded like a pbass should. However I am a jazz neck bassist, and a 1.5" nut just feels like home for me. So the bass sat in the wall until now. I got a new Jazz block and bound neck from Nash and now it feels like a worn in pair of shoes, and super playable. So anyone need. Pbass neck, cuz it's not going back on this one ever!!
Yeah took a little convincing. So happy that I got it done, because I really didn't want to sell the bass.
Yes it doesn't translate in pictures. It actually has some chipping and has been totally sanded to a matte finish. So it matches well in person.
I actually like relic instruments but I don't understand the wear pattern on the fretboard. Is it based on an actual neck or just meant to look interesting?
I've seen some older basses that have been played to death that have similar wear patterns. The finish gets played off and replaced with dirt and grime.
Yes I figured for fun being the bass body looks well used, I wanted a heavy relic on the neck. My old pbass was more medium relic. On a all maple neck once the poly finish goes away it gets dark fast. So it is pretty accurate. You can get any level of relic'ng from Nash from mild to extreme like you found it in a dumpster. To me the appeal of my Nash it just plays like a worn in glove. Just comfortable from the moment you pick it up. I know it's not everyone's cup of coffee, but it matches my rat rod style!
