I keep seeing the the Shecter four string bass in Musician's Friend that says it's a four stringed B-E-A-D. Well, I don't have the cash to get it, but I have my old Epiphone P-Bass, and if a new nut is not too expensive, I can convert it to a B-E-A-D tuning. Where can I get a nut like this, and about how much will it set me back?

    Thanks,
    Dirk

  2. Replacement nuts for basses come without slots cut in them so that the luthier can tailor the spacing and slot widths to fit the individuals taste and selection of strings. Just get your local craftsman to make you one or do it yourself. It is a fairly easy "first" project and done right you'll really be proud of it.

You should search in the "Setup" forum for further info on doing this type of work. You will find all you need to know there.
