Just stumbled across this website doing a google search about MIM vs MIA fender basses, wow lots of info! Three years ago, when I was in my mid-50’s, I decided I wanted to play bass (played the trumpet when I was in middle school). About this time a friend had just taken up guitar at a late age, and talked me out of playing bass, because in his words, it’s boring. So I bought an acoustic guitar and took lessons, and wasn’t getting anything out of it, other than aggravation. The guitar just didn’t resonate with me, so I bought a “boring” Ibanez se300 bass. Fell in love with playing bass with the first string I played. Been playing it about 8 months, pretty much everyday, and making progress every time I play (sometimes not a lot of progress, but still progress). Traded the Ibanez in for a Fender Mustang, and love the sound and play ability! Look forward to soaking up the knowledge on this website

Welcome from me too You mentioned trumpet If there was one instrument outside of bass that I would love to learn is trumpet .. But in being realistic I am heavily and happily entrenched studying and playing bass But I do enjoy listening to trumpet lines in jazz Do you ever feel the urge to play trumpet again ? I am ‘old guy ‘ too ...
Actually never gave the trumpet another though, but since you mentioned it, I may pick one up again and give it another go!
