Has anyone switched out the stock humbucker for anything else?

I was considering having the body routed to add a MusicMan replacement or a Jazz pickup near the neck, and putting a matched one in to replace the bucker down by the bridge.

This will be my first time looking into pickups, so any advice/concerns/recommendations will be heard!

    THANKS!

  2. A musicman style one, say for example a Seymour Duncan would definitely get you a better tone, and I agree that maybe adding a jazz up front could give you some cool options, similar to the Jazzman warwicks...

I bought a stock VM HB, a pair of '63 Thunderbuckers from the Thunderbucker ranch and sent them to JohnK. This is what he sent back a few weeks later:

... are such "golden suggestions"... Go on TalkBass, always something good to learn from valid fella... ;)and always an unpleasantly increasing G.A.S.:D

That Jag...Effing WOW!!!! I see you have great taste in basses with the G&L, too. I still wish I had my SB-1. Obligatory question: what did the refin, pups, and PG set you back on the Jag?

    Must...fight...Jaguar bass G.A.S!

Edit: on second look, I suppose it was the color of the PG throwing me off into somehow perceiving the body was something other than silver; I see it now. My pupils were dilated from my eye exam earlier today and my computer screen isn't the best. Thanks, Bobster!

The humbucker model comes in silver, so it's just the routing, new pickups and pickguard.
