    Hi there!
Guys, I need a good advice...
Several month ago I've unfettered my 5 S $$Covette, I'm pretty happy with it unplugged but just cannot get a good sound out of the two MEC MM style pick ups, too dry, aggressive...
What would you replace them with and why?
Would you also replace the preamp?
Last question: I was told that flatwounds strings could really enhance those type of problems , do you have an opinion?

    Thanks in advance

Oh come on... you must have some good advice!
I'm pretty desparate in finding a good solution to replace the MECs
I recently discovered the bartolini's MV5 series. They seems to be very close in terms of size but will they really add or improve my crappy sound?
Any opinion from a user? Anyone...

  3. No advice but most use the term *defretted* for a defretted bass. You have my permission to call it what you like, I will merely look at you as if you have lobsters coming out of your ears. :)

Actually, on second thought- advice: Consider your strings, perhaps? IME a fretless bass may require just the right combination of strings, EQ & other factors to make one happy w/the sound.
