here is the newest pic of my dp custom bass...
looks nice !!
Loooks good! That is a dramatic top. Are you going for a gloss finish or satin?
your bass looks great!
what type of wood is the fingerboard?
its going to be have a gloss finish..tung oil
oops..forgot. the fretboard is purpleheart
getting close huh?
I'd say you're probably 2-4 weeks away, what do you think? did Dave say how much time you got?
Gorgeous, man! Can't wait to see 'er all dressed up
he told me 2-3 weeks
very nice bass - but how is a tung oil finish going to be gloss?
I wondered that too.
BTW, are the LED's on the top of the board, the side, or both??
And how much extra was it to have them put on there?? If you don't mind me asking, that is. (you can PM with it, if you don't mind)
Looks very nice. Keep us posted on its progress.
It's high gloss tung oil. Formby's High Gloss. It produces a gloss finish, not like poly or nitro, but it is glossy. It's just not thick.
the led's are top only. and...just email dave about the price for them. its...considerably cheaper than sims custom.
even more new pics. im very exicted
Looking better and better with every pic
Man, I LOVE that top wood. Is that spalted??
yup, its spalted maple
DAMN NICE BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats so sweet man, makes me want to get that spalted maple right now. hell, the only thing id change would be 5 stringer
one jazz pup and one mm pup, exactly how id have my custom. what brand pups are going in her anyway
i really like the looks of the spalted maple!
congrats on a great looking bass.
Nice looking! I'm not a big fan of purpleheart fretboards, but it looks great on your bass. Thge spalteing is very "strong," I'm guessing that that's about as far as it can go before the log falls apart. Was the wood very soft or hard to work?
Is that a spider on the top of your headstock?
the pickups will be seymour duncans with an aguiliar obp-1 pre amp.
the wood was slightly difficult for dave to work with..and was soft in a few places. but not as bad as you think it would be. he said it wasnt as hard to work with as jeffs buck eye burl.
and no its not a spider, just odd figuring
