    Hello all!

I love my jag, but really don't find much use for the active circuit. It certainly can get the job done, but I feel like a better pre-amp might improve things.

I'm wondering if anyone has done this mod, what preamp they might have used, and what sort of space considerations there are in the replacement? I don't have much experience with preamps OR modding basses, so any comments would be very helpful!

If anyone has done any other mods to their mass, pickups especially, I'd love to hear about it as well!

    Thanks

    Hi Renard.

There's a luthier in France who makes customized Bass VI's including a couple of models which have a two band pre-amp housed in a Jaguar's upper control plate. (I don't know what they're like. I prefer passive electronics.):

"Upper EQ" - Two bands tone circuit
(Provided on Super VI and Super JM)

2 bands preamplifier and active tone
    Bass: +/- 18 dB at 70 Hz
Treble: +/- 15dB at 3.2 kHz (Super VI), 4.4 KHz (Super JM)

Power consomption : approx. 450 up to 800 µA (depends supply voltage).
Power supply: 9 volts battery or NiMh accumulators.
Battery: life up to six months in normal use."
