Selling my Black 1973 Fender Jazz bass - the neck stamp dates this one to Jan 1973. This is a fantastic looking bass with just the right amount of mojo - but I have my eye on something else, so a few things have to go to make room.

This is all original except for the pickups and pots, which I replaced with Nordstrand 70s J pickups and CTS pots. When it came to me the wiring was a mess and the original pickups needed a rewind - so I put the Nordys in and went out and played it! Only other issues I can see is that it looks like someone tried to relocate the thumb rest above the pickguard at some point - but the holes are now filled and not really noticeable.

I recently had the frets dressed at 30th street guitars as they were worn, plays great now but they are on the low side - so bear this in mind if you like tall frets.

Comes with the OHSC, which is in good condition structurally, but only the middle latch works - so you probably wouldn’t want to take it out to gigs!

    PRICE DROP TO $2,295

I had a black ‘73 like 25 years ago. Was a great bass but mine was a tank but that was when I was younger and could wear it for 3 hours a night...
But I’m feeling nostalgic. What’s the weight and where in NY are you?

Hi - this one is actually not a tank at all - it’s 9.4lbs using my bathroom scales! I’m in Manhattan on the Upper West side if you want to check it out

I once owned an identical one. It had a flame maple neck. The only one I’ve ever seen

Wow still plenty of meat on the frets!

Note that the pics in post #5 are before I had the frets dressed, they look much nicer now!
