Phew, first post EVER in this subforum. Take it easy on me guys!

Okay, I have a big project starting this week, as Im ordering parts. But I need your help. I have a SX Pbass with a Warmoth neck, black and maple.. But Im making it the funkiest thing I can think of.

Funkist (Combination of FUNK and Sunkist orange, FYI):

This is going to be a pickup monster.. I need your help though. I plan on the layout going pretty complicated and deep. This is what I have so far:

5 way selector, coil tapped MM pup:
    1. Front
    2. Back
    3. Series
    4. Parallel
    5. And the fifth as either just a dead spot, nothing changes, or a killswitch.. If thats possible!

I cant decide on going with a 4 knob approach, V T V T, or a 2 stacked knob approach, VT VT, along with the 5 way.

I just need any opinions, no-no's, or even reality checks if this whole deal isnt plausible. Im open to anything guys! Just remember, Im new to all of this and anything past the name of the pickup is getting complicated for me..:atoz:

    Thanks in advance! :bassist:

I believe Fender makes a retrofit switch for the Tele that offers each pickup individually and in series or parallel. If you like the look of a Tele-style switch, that would work, but you wouldn't have a killswitch built in. You could always do a separate killswitch, but IMHO there's not a whole lot you can do with a killswitch if you're not "out there", as in Rage, Buckethead, etc.
As for the knobs, I'd recommend VT VT stacked with a front jack. If you could swing it, varitones are fun, too.
    Good luck!

Jack will definitely be in the front. Im going to get a Strat pickup selector tonight from WarriorJoe7, so thats covered. And the big problem is I cant decide if I want stacked, or the 4 knobs.. I think 4 knobs would look sooo funky!

With a front jack, a 5-way switch and a coil tap mini switch, IMO four knobs would get crowded. Also, if you're just using a standard Strat switch, I have no idea how you would get series and parallel on there. That doesn't mean it's not possible, I just really doubt it would work.
However I hope someone will prove me wrong.

Normally, you'd just have it wired normally, with an extra switch just to flick it into parallel, or the afforementioned Fender 4 way Telecaster switch, which should be easy to find.

Lucky for you, you don't have to sand all of the paint off! Just knock the glossiness off with 400, then 600 sand paper, and then follow from step 4:cool:.

This is what i would do

2 staked VT pots where pot 1 and 2 are and a 5 way switch from a stratocaster going where the 3rd pot would be, at an angle of course.

Let me see if i can find a pic of something similair.

    ah that was easy.

Like this BUT where the inout is thats the first pot, where the first pot is thats the second pot is and wher ethe last pot is thats the pick ups selector, so everything is moved down one pot because yours is a side mounted input jack. Throw some staked pots in and bam that would be sweet.

I see no reason why this would not work and it wuld keep it clean and uncluttered looking.
