I have nearly finished the p-bass i've been fixing up. All thats left to do is the PUP's and and EQ. I'm looking for a system where i can go from a vintage sound to a more punky sound (I'm guessing i'll need a mid eq).

    Hope you can help.

  2. I'd say use a standard passive Fender/Seymour Duncan P-pickup. Personally, I wouldn't use an active EQ. I use my P-bass for punk, and it's great. It also sounds very 'vintage.' Just fiddle with your amp EQ a bit.

Would you recommend a SD Quaterpounder, Vintage or Hot?

  4. It depends... the vintage I imagine sounds like an old Fender pickup. The hot is like the standards, but has more bass and midrange and more output. The quarter pounder has less mids, but a ton of output.

I've just ordered a SD quarter pounder. Can't wait to put in the bass and try it.
