new pups for my Pilot plus 4

I jsut got a De Armond Pilot Plus 4 string bass, and i think that i would liek to replace the bridge j pup and the p pup that it has. the pups it has on it kind of have a tinny sound to them, that i would like to get rid of. My question is, is it possible to replace them with some other brand of pick ups, becuause the pilot plus has kind of a weird body style to it.(kind of new to the whole pickup thing)

any suggestions would help,
