New RAD 1000P power amp? (Pascal module)

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by rzero, May 16, 2018.

  1. Hey guys,

What is the power rating for the RAD 1000P into an 8 ohm cab?

Forgive me, not an expert on this techy stuff. Just wanna know what kind of 8ohm cab I can run with this amp. Thanks!

    It’ll do about 600 into 8.

Anecdotally, I've played this amp with an 8 ohm berg 210 and it was flawless, tons of power and headroom.

you'll know it when you experience it. :)

The pascal has a very fast transient response. The notes come out of the rig almost before you play it. If you've never experienced this, you're in for a treat.

Definitely an amp thing as well as a cab thing.

4x10's are to 1x18's as the Pascal is to other class D modules. ;-) (to put it bluntly and in an overgeneralized fashion. ha)

Ah yes, of course. Generalizing on tb is risky business, and that line is probably more misleading than anything. I’m sure I’ll burn for it, lol.

  13. Thanks for the info @radbass

Question for people using these units: what preamps are ya running in front of them? Would a stompbox style like a Sansamp or Tone hammer do the trick here? Or would I need to go full rack setup for this baby?

I moved from 4-10's many moons ago! The reasoning is the comb filter effect mainly. I had trouble hearing it when i was like 10 feet away but up close or a farther distance away the Lowend was too much so most of the time when you had it turned up were you could hear it the sound guy had to almost entirely had to drop you out of the mix. But this is just my opinion!By the way back then i was using a Epifani UL 4-10 or a Berg AE 410.

Again. A bad comparison as most of us these days use different configs for solid reasons. It was strictly a comparison of 18’s to 10’s in terms of speed/quickness

Currently rocking my socks off with a sonic farm 2di4. Way more power than needed for an outdoor 4 piece gig with no PA support.

  17. Cool! @J.Wolf I feel a bit obliged to checkout the sonic farm stuff. I live in Vancouver after all and have bumped into Boris on the way from a rehearsal on the skytrain a few years back. He was quite excited to tell me about his preamps.

Is the RAD 1000p stable at 2.67 ohms or is a minimum of 4 ohms recommended?

Like this? Doesn't seem so bad.

OT, but is that your Erizias 6-string? Can you tell us a bit about it? Last I knew you were playing a Skjold -- I've heard good things about both.
