Nice, looks good, but would be much better with block inlays like his custom shop model.

  3. +1

  4. Man, still damn tempting. A CIJ Fender P/J. WITH an active/passive switch. That bass could be a killer.

looks like the Marcus and the Geddy might have some competition, huh? :)

  6. I guess so. But the Geddy still ahs that awesome neck. But it will be a close match

  7. Man, that is totally tempting. I'm glad they've got a PJ Jazz Bass out now (that's more "normal" than the Aerodyne, which just isn't to my taste). I'd love to play one and see how that neck feels.

WOW that is a rediculous deal for a sick bass. GAS is really setting in, So many basses and so little money

Yeah that definatly looks like a less expensive japanese signature, nothing on the fender site about it, but I hope it stays around for a while so I can check one out

ok, so I picked one up yesterday from Musicians Fiend.

It's not MIJ, MIK, it's MIM.

It's not heavy, can't be anymore than 9lbs. Finish, fretwork nicely done.
The pickups are very good, could maybe do with a slight bit more high end definition but it's relatively minor. The preamp is nice and quiet, the bass and treble eq is a bit more benign than I'm used to with aguilar and bart preamps but it's a great sounding bass overall.
It's a real nice bass, esp for the price - $770 new. I think I read somewhere that this model is being done for MF only, but I haven't verified that anywhere.

How's it compare in passive mode to the traditional Fender tones - the P in particular?

yeah, very favorably. I put flats on it and it's nice and thumpy.
definitely might upgrade the preamp in it, the bass boost is pretty benign.

  15. Looks nice!!!

  16. What's CIJ mean?
