Whoa. I didn't think you could get a solid finish like that (but then I'm no expert, and everytime I think of Rickenbackers, I think of 4003's).

I really dig that bass. So simple, yet so great looking.
  4. wow man, love the bass, and i LOVE that color.
I really love rickenbackers, that why i have a 4003 haha.
i really want to play a 4004, but like so many others i wish they were more excessable. hope you love it as much i love looking at the pictures of it.

i really like the grain on the neck too.

Yeah the neck is what first caught my eye too!
The Univox pictured has a great slim & fast neck which I feel is an extremely close copy of the old 4001's.The 4004L on the other hand has a slightly fatter feel, more like the newer 4003's
The pups are definetly hi powered sound wise compared to the 81 White 4003 I recently let go and IMO offer a little more variety in tone.

    The fingerboard is amazing :)
  7. nice. i always loved rics. never played or seen one. what is the neck like? are they real fat? or are the slim like an ibanez neck? enjoy your new ric.

Definetly doesn't have a "guitar" feel like my Ibanez SR900 or the baseball bat touch of the pictured Gibson RD. Fenderish somewhere between a P and a J would describe it.:)

Only minor item IMO that could be addressed by Rickenbacker would be a slighty larger PU selector toggle. This ones quite small !
  9. thank you for your reply.

The Midnight Blue finish is one of my favorites. I love the 4004's and am glad to see someone else join the fold. I truly believe that if Ric made more of them so people could check 'em out that they'd be far more popular. After I bought my 1st one I sold all of my 4003's and now have 4 4004's....they are certainly magnificent and congrats.

BTW....that fretboard does look great. My '05 Trans Green Cii looks like the fretboard was cut from the same slab.

Why don't they make white ones anymore? I think a white rickenbacker with the black pick gaurd looks absolutely amazing.
  15. Beautiful! I have been having gas for a Ric for a while now, and this doesnt help at all :spit::p

wow. you make me jeleaous. however i've never really liked the 4004s as much as the 4001s and 4003s. i'm a sucker for binding, that ric pickguard, and a giant toaster(ish) pup. but anywho, very nice family you've got going.
