I was browsing FB marketplace and stumbled across this. I was honestly looking for a practice amp, but this deal was too good to pass up. GK 400RB III, a Hartke 410 XL and a Hartke 115 XL. All for $300. I expected everything to be pretty trashed, but it's all pretty clean, especially considering the age. IMG_2499.JPG

Yeah, the 410 is a boat anchor, but too good a deal to pass up

That'd make me want to practice. Then ask my neighbor down the street how it sounds.

Will Lee called and wants his '80s rig back, but Darryl Jones claims it's his.

Would have been worth it just for the amp IMO. Done good!

Sweet score, one would expect to pay that much for the head alone.

I rocked a Hartke 410 & 115 for awhile, then I happened to look down at the 15 one day and realized how much harder it was working vs the 410. Did some reading on the evils of blended cabs, tried them separately and liked them both. Ended up using the 15 for gigs and the 410 for rehearsal, so I didn’t have to lug the heavier cab around town. Worked out great.

Awesome score, man! Hartke XLs were my favorite for a long time.
Sold a 4.5XL a while back, but still got a 2.5XL here and it's been a workhouse for over 18 years.

No reason you can’t practice with that, volume knobs exist for a reason!

    Major score!

  17. I wouldn’t have hesitated to buy this, and I am in no way a Hartke fan in the least.

But a great deal is a great deal.

I sometimes hate to admit it, but one of the best live tones I've ever had was through a Hartke cheap beat to hell MDF borrowed Transporter 410.

I 99.9% use all my own gear, but this was a gig 1000 miles away in St. Louis. I took my rack, but couldn't take any cabs. I use a very unique distorted tone. I usually play through a 4x12 guitar cabinet with 90's Celestion Vintage 30's run full range on top of a 2x15 cab loaded with Peavey 1502 Black Widows crossed over at 250hz for the low end reinforcement.

On this gig, I had no clue what cabs would be there for me, but I told them I needed two. I ended up running full range through that Hartke 410 on top of a (badly) homemade plywood 1x15 cab that happily contained some model of Black Widow. I ran a Peavey CS-800 power amp through each cab, until the red DDT light blinked on an off. Neither cab broke a sweat.

That Hartke and homemade cab were old, beat up, and to this day produced one of the best live tones I have ever used, to the point where it felt like the bass played itself. The next gig at home where I used my own cabs (which I have loved for decades) had me thinking the entire time, "This doesn't sound as good as that Hartke/homemade setup)." Which is weird, because every time I have played through Hartke all aluminum drivers since, I don't like them. But, they worked that night, and to this day is one of the best tones I've ever used.
