I'm diggin' the Amp , and LOVING the Bergantino, it handles the V Bass synth stuff with ease.

Beautiful... but how do you plan to fill those extra rack spaces?

Since you have a stereo amp and crossover now, I think it's time to buy another one of those cabs :D

actually- i am exchanging the rack for a 4 space- i just found out its a bad idea to have anopn space like that- it reduces amp cooling- you would think it would be the other way around- but i dont need anything inn there now. And yes, i wish i could afford another cab- maybe the bergie 1x 15, but then thats too much stuff to move around- and i played the House of Blues here in Vegas this weekend and the cab was absolutely amazing!!
    BERGIE's RULE!!

Where'd you learn this thing about space and heat? How does it work?
BTW, how heavy is the rack with that crown amp? any trouble moving it around at all?

I recently heard that the best cooling for an amp is acheived when you place it in an asbestos box with a 1" by 1' chimney while running at 2 ohms.

Seriously, I hope it wasn't a salesman telling you that. In reality the less you have surrounding an amp, the more effcient it will be shedding excess heat through radiation. The fans are still going to be pushing the same amount of air over any internal heatsinks regardless of space above or below or lack thereof.

In fact for some amps, such as SWR, an extra space above is recommended.

well-I read it in the Crown manual. it says very plainly
    " to ensure proper cooling-
When using an equipment rack, mount units directly on top of each other. Close any open rack spaces with blank panels. DO NOT block front or rear air vents. ..."
come to think of it, this principle came into play when i took a short computer course a few years back- if you take the cover off a computer, it is MORE liable to overheat.
no, it wasnt a salesman. i NEVER listen to salesmen ;)

  18. With an open space on the rack, then hot air from the rear can more easily be sucked in the front. If all spaces are blocked off...there's a longer distance to travel.

I'd go w/ the manual recommendations :D Or, just get a rack drawer to go in that space. Storage rules.

Cool stuff also adrian. Very cool.

i spent several years designing laptop and desktop computers, as well as a few servers.

cooling is a very touchy subject.

i agree, go with the manual.
