Rob sent me a picture of my new Deep 5. Just a bit of Koa madness...neck is koa for a bit more warmth. Its a 34" scale strung E to C.

Still getting final set-up. Im really looking forward to getting it into the stable. I think it's going to be an interesting compliment to the Turners.

That's what I'm talkin' about! Beautiful. Rob does great work... perfect fit and finish, great sound and playability. That's going to be quite a unique instrument.

Have you ever tried an Acoustic Image head like a Clarus or Focus with the Turners and Allens.... those heads (especially through relatively dark and organic cabs like the Acme's) really brings the warmth and woodiness of those basses to life. I am not a big fan of Acme cabs for regular, magnetic pickup EB's, but they really work well with these hybrid type instruments IMO.

Man, stop posting these, I'm an idiot and I always end up looking and getting serious GAS... they're soooooo sweet. If I win the lottery I'm getting one for sure. I dunno where Rob gets his tops, but they are consistently unbelievable.
  5. She's a beauty! That top is hawt, ya Gotta love Koa!

I have a Mouse 30, you won't be disappointed. His workmanship is flawless. The man's an artist.

That is simply beautiful ... I have a Deep 4 with Koa top that I ordered last October, so it should be nearing completion. Now I can't wait ...:hyper:

BTW, I think tuning E to C is the way to go with these instruments ... especially with a 34" scale

I'm running a Clarus with a Bergantino. I love the sound with the semi-acoustic basses like turners and rob allens. I'll check out the Acme. thanks

Beautiful bass! That top is gorgeous and I don't see koa necks that often.

Looking forward to the Turner comparison.

Between this and the 8 string fretless Turner, you had best hope I never find out where you live. :ninja:

Enjoy it! Invite me over! :hyper:

Wow! That bass looks fantastic. :bassist:

BTW, how is the balance on the Deep 5, sitting or standing...is it neck heavy?

    Very sweet.
That's the exact bass I'am saving for now.
Hope to order my Deep 5 EADGC by May 2006.
    Love Rob's work.
Post some sound clips when she's home.

Update: Got the bass today. Its truly beautiful. I just love opening that box up.

The koa neck has a wonderfully supple feel--i'm really glad i went with the 34". Rob has done a fantastic job. He's been wonderful through the process and is very responsive.

The sound is luscious. Great attack and sustain (think the scene in Spinal Tap: waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah).
