Adam has grabbed one of the Bubinga tops I had on reserve, and he's turning it in this Century Signature V! Should be a beauty! Congrats, Adam. And thanks!!
Thank you Greg for your help....and thanks to Gard, Keith and Tony who've all put up with my shop visits and deliberation over this bass. I know this is gonna turn out amazing! Afterall, 6 is my lucky number and I've got a really good feeling about this bass...
I've had my new bass for less than a week and have one rehearsal under my belt so far. This bass is just incredible in every single aspect. Seriously, I could go on and on about this bass but no words would really do it justice. However, I will say that the all-Wenge neck and JB placement is where it's at!!
Man, I freakin' love this neck. In case everyone else is not aware, this came out of the same neck block that is being used for a new bass for Jimmy Haslip. And Doug Baltimore has one on order, too! Gard and I just WISH we had basses on order with necks like this... man, I want one sooooo badly!!!
No wishing, it's not an "if" thing for me, it's a "WHEN!" one....I will have it, yes, I will, it will be mine....
You're welcome, Greg. I'll be sure to bring her with me when I come to Blacksburg next. Gard, your comments say it all with regards to the neck. Anything that gives YOU GAS has GOT to be good .
That wenge neck is incredible. I would love to hear it. The pickup placement is always important. It looks like the neck pickup is close to the usual P pickup placement (that always seems to be the magic spot).
Yeah, the neck pickup solo'd will definitely cop a P vibe. This bass will also get an intensely aggressive Stingray and J thing happenin' too.
Wow, what a sweet looking bass! I know the pickup placement on Gard's fretless sounds amazing, curious to hear it on a fretted.
Thanks Clint. Maybe we'll run into each other at Mike Conn's place sometime and you can check it out. I took it by there last weekend and him & Wade were definitely diggin' it.
Just got home from my 2nd rehearsal and I'm totally blown away!!! If anyone is lookin' for an absolute tone monster that punches through even the most dense mix then you should seriously consider a Roscoe with an all-Wenge neck, JB pickup location and an Aguilar preamp. A Swamp Ash body, Bubinga top and Wenge fingerboard will add even more to the punch factor. This is my 6th Roscoe and it's already my absolute favorite....it's frighteningly good!!
Thanks! Yeah, the neck is amazing and something I think any Roscoe fan would absolutely love. All Wenge = All Win!! I have a hard time putting this bass down...
I'd love to hear some clips too but I suspect that you'd have a tough time separating the sound of the all wenge neck & FB from the JJ PU's & pickup placement (as compared to a Roscoe with a standard maple/PH/maple neck).
