Long Island City, NY— Our famous preamp pedal, in a smaller footprint!

This year at NAMM 2017, we are releasing a new version of our popular preamp pedal. The new SBP-2 has the same famous circuit that goes on all Sadowsky basses—just like the original Sadowsky Preamp/DI pedal—but with a slimmed down design and smaller footprint Perfect for crammed pedalboards as well as vintage basses where onboard preamp installation would affect resale value. It works with all passive basses, active pickups, and upright bass pickups.

The SPB-2 will be available direct from Sadowsky and from retailers for $189 in spring 2017.

The original Sadowsky Bass Preamp/DI Pedal as well as our onboard preamps are also available on our website: Preamps – Sadowsky Guitars

    Sadowsky Bass Preamp Specs:
    • Frequency Response: 5Hz-20.9kHz
    • Power Source: 9V Batter
    • Battery Life: 870 Hours
    • Bass Control: +/- 13dB Boost @ 40Hz
    • Treble Control: +/- 13dB Boost @ 4kHz
    • Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.18% @ 1kHz
    • Output Impedance: 1K Ohm

I remember original Sadowsky preamp was boost only. This thing says plus or minus 13dB, but then says "boost". Is this boost only or plus/minus?

    It's a boost only preamp.

Thanks. You should correct that typo.

I know. I can't fix it here myself but am emailing the tb folks to take care of it. Thanks for noticing!

Is it essentially the same pre amp as they use in their Basses? Because those are sweet no?

It is exactly the same preamp circuit used in Sadowsky basses.

  9. Will Spring be before March 31st?
I have $30 of vouchers to use at Thomann in Germany that expire end of March.
I was hoping to use them for part of the new preamp.

We are finalizing the packaging. We actually have them in the shop and will be selling them very soon.

  12. As promised, this just went live on their website. Can't wait to try!

  13. The nice people at Thomann in Germany delivered mine this week to the UK.
I tried it with Sadowsky J4 and J5 basses which have the onboard preamp and also with Fender Precision 4 and Fender fretless Jazz 4.
Swapped between onboard (active, no pedal) and outboard (passive with pedal) on the Sadowsky's and (as you'd expect) couldn't tell the difference.
Lovely boosts to the two passive basses too, as you'd also expect from Sadowsky.
You get what it says on the tin (or well-built and solid pedal), which is just what I wanted.
    Nice piece of kit!

How well does it work for boosting muds without a mid knob?

That should be Mids not muds.

  16. The boost on the bass is specifically set to 40 Hz, so there should be no impact to mids. However, I still cut some mids on my parametric EQ after the Sadowsky, but that very well may originate from the bass itself and/or the EQ from my amp.

Another question, if you leave your bass in active mode and settings not flat, can you cause any harm using the pedal?

  19. I can't say for sure as I'm using a passive bass. You'd be colouring an already EQ'd signal. There may also be some levelling issues, but don't think there should be any harm.
