    Hi,
The local guitar shop had one in stock,so I went and had a look.............Jeez!!! This MUST be the worst bass I've ever seen!
The neck is like an aircraft carrier flight deck!
The nut on the example I tried looked like it had been cut freehand with a hacksaw! - so did the scratchplate!
    Try again Fender!

    Hey,

In this kind of price range, quality is sure not very consistent between individual instruments.

I can tell you that mine is EXTREMELY well constructed, apart for the nut which is admittedly not the best cut ever, but still does his job fine.

As for neck width, it's a matter of personal preference: I personally find it VERY comfortable.

Ya I agree that the squire isn't the an amazing bass but you can't beat the price (I don't own one.. but...) you know what I mean =]

While I think that the Squier P bass special is a good bass for the buck...
I believe the P5 misses the mark a bit. I would rather spend a little more and get an MIM 5.
