Most amps come in two basic configurations
    1) combo amp has speaker and amp in one nice box-everythign is contained within the one unit.

    2) 2 or 3 piece setup- You use a Speaker Cabinet, or Cab, (box with speakers mounted in it) and hook it up to a seperate amp that is commonly called the head. Not sure why its called this, probably because lots of guys set the amp and preap up on top of their speaker cabinet.

here's kind of a simple explaination for the 'bass'ics in bass amplification..

it should give you a simplistic lowdown on what you are probably wondering about :)

    With all due respect.

Stand in front of a full-length mirror. Now--pretend that everything from your shoulders down is a speaker cabinet. See the thing on top of the speaker cabinet??? That's your head. Or, in this case.....your amplifier.

By the way, I'm not laughing........but rather....welcoming you to the land of bass playing. :)

    Peace,
    RB
