Check this out, guys! Joel and Dave have collaborated with Michael Tobias on a killer looking new bass, the Groove Shoppe 5 (GS5).

    Designed by Michael Tobias
    Pickups by Nordstrand
    Pramp by Glockenklang

That alone is enough to get my attention! :D

    Check it out, here.

Are there any other basses made right now that use a Glock pre, or is this a first??

    Hey Ryan,

I think there may be one or two obscure European basses that use an earlier version but this is the first full scale lauch that I know of.

  8. Who is building the basses for you. Is it Dave from NYBW?

PS: On "paper", this combo of choices sounds amazing! Kudos again Joel!

    Hi Folks!

Nope, the Guys from Sandberg-Guitars (another "obscure" company from Germany, endorsed by "obscure" bands like Rammstein...;) ) are using the Glock preamps for some time now for some of their basses....:p

    Hi Mark,

Mike Tobias designed the bass itself, Glockenklang builds our custom circuit, Carey Nordstrand makes our pick-ups, and Dave Segal is our ace-in-the-hole master luthier who makes sure that every bass that goes out the door is literally perfect.

Dave does the best fret and set-up work that we've ever seen and we use him for all of our instruments. I wouldn't trust my personal basses to anyone else. We're quite lucky to have him on our side!

Yes, Sandberg does infact use the old version. We got that one in as a test when we started to think about working with Glock.

It sounded good but it didn't have some of what we were used to hearing in an on board pre.

We gave Udo from Glock some very specific feedback about what we wanted to change. We went through that process four or five times until we ended up with a version that we like.

Very cool. I love how Mike Tobias is taking on his role as a global master designer ... doing designs for other people. He has contributed SO much to the bass world!

Our spec sheet is a little misleading. We can actually do almost anything you want (clear, bursts, solid, vintage, etc.) but the colors on the spec sheet are what we used for the first series of basses and I didn't want to offer a color that I wouldn't have in stock yet.

    I hope that is helpful.

    Thanks,
    JC

Very very nice. Looks like a force to be reckoned with. I love the collaboration of all these great luthiers/designers. You're getting the best from all of them....Mike Tobias, Carey, Dave Segal and Glock. Geez!!!

The specs sound awesome but the shape isn't quite me. Maybe it'll grow on me, though. The body sort of reminds me on an F-Bass (probably just because of the lower horn).

I've never heard of this Glock person... what is he known for?
